Chemist

NATURE OF WORK:

Collect samples; perform laboratory and biological analysis on water, wastewater, recycled water, biosolids, and landfill leachate, and industrial wastes, perform complex field and laboratory investigations to diagnose and resolve both in-laboratory and field problems; and perform other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Perform and analyze standardized and non-standardized chemical, biological, and physical testing and analysis of water wastewater, recycled water, biosolids and landfill leachate.
·Develops and maintain the quality assurance/ quality control programs as required by the regulations.
·Maintains and prepares a variety of technical reports.
·Creates laboratory-tracking mechanisms that meet regulatory requirements.
·Research and develop new tests to analyze water, domestic and industrial wastewater, gases, sludges and soils.
·Prepares and standardize reagents and solutions.
·Performs collection of wastewater samples from various sources within the wastewater treatment system.
·Perform other related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Male or Female
College graduate preferably in B.S. Chemical Engineering
Minimum of 3 years experience performing duties as chemist or equivalent, in an environmental laboratory, wastewater or water treatment plant laboratory, industrial waste inspection facility, an/or closely related experience.
Knowledgeable in practices and methods of chemical, biochemical and bacteriological testing and analysis.
Can operate laboratory equipments and instruments and analyze and interpret routine test results and data.
Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
